Once an Importer is importing any goods in their importing country. he might need Several Import documents. Import documents are having several purposes.
1- Ensuring that only quality products are imported
2- Calculating the correct traffic classification and products value
3-Protecting the interest of local importers from dishonest exporters
4- Limiting the volume of certain commodity imports .
Now lets us discuss the major certificate which a importer could might require once he is importing .
Certificate of Origin – The certificate of origin is a “document attesting to a shipment’s country of origin”. It must be signed by the exporter ‘ s chamber of commerce as a proof . it is also used by importing countries to specify the traffic on the goods. Below is an image of Certificate of Origin
Certificate of manufacture – The Certificate of manufacture attest that goods were manufactured in the exporter ‘country . it is also provided and signed by the exporter’s chamber of commerce.
Certificate of inspection – This certificate is provided by an independent organisation attesting to the accuracy of the value and the authenticity of the goods as listed on invoice .The exporter obtains this pre shipment certificate in the exporting country.
Certificate of free sale – This certificate attest that goods can be legally sold in country of export. the intent is to prevent defective products from being exported.
Certificate of insurance – This certificate might be required under some terms of trade, attest that a particular shipment has insurance coverage. it is provided by the exporter’s insurance company as is required under some terms of trade.
